City Emergency ManagerAssistant Chief Gil Damiani

The Emergency Manager for the City of mesa is Assistant Chief Gil Damiani.  This position reports directly to the Fire Chief and is responsible for coordinating all Emergency Management activities for the City of Mesa.

Emergency Management is the term used for disaster planning.  The position coordinates all four phases of Emergency Management.  The four phases are:

  • Preparedness
    Planning
    Training
  • Mitigation
    Efforts to minimize the impact of a disaster
  • Response
    The actual response of resources to an event
  • Recovery
    Both short and long range

This position represents the City of Mesa and the Fire Department on local, regional and national issues relating to Emergency Management and Fire Service issues.
