Hazardous Materials Team
The Mesa Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team has the capability to respond
to any hazardous situation within the City of Mesa, including those involving
Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). Automatic aid agreements with
neighboring cities ensure for a rapid and adequate
response to these types of incidents.
The Haz Mat Team is comprised
of 36 members certified as Haz Mat Technicians. The
technicians are currently housed at fire Stations
206 and 209, and are assisted by a large support
vehicle which holds most of their specialized
equipment and product identification capabilities.
Each technician has completed a 200-hour
certification course, and maintains their skills
with required continuing education. The team also
engages in training specific to major incidents
involving WMD.
